Powering this formidable rocket is a 398cc liquid-cooled (with a thermostatically-controlled fan),
four-stroke single cylinder tuned for massive torque over a wide powerband. The five-speed manual transmission (with reverse) produces clean and quick shifts no matter how much you hammer on it. Fuel is fed via a large Mikuni 37mm carburetor delivering instant throttle response.
Crack the throttle on the DVX and you’ll know instantly what 400 Sport-class power is all about. Yet, thanks to an engine counter-balancer, the powerplant is smooth and controllable at all times. The much-appreciated Start-In-Gear electric start system features a lightweight, maintenance-free battery. Compact and light (thanks to its dry-sump lubrication system and low height), the engine allows a narrow chassis that sets the standard in fl ickability and fun.
Up front a double A-arm suspension takes the big hits with 8.5 inches of travel and piggyback reservoir- style front shock absorbers feature adjustable preload, compression & rebound damping for improved overall suspension performance. It’s matched at the rear by a swingarm/linkage-type suspension off ering 9.1 inches of travel and a fully adjustable shock. The result is a chassis that soaks up every jump, bump and landing with comfort and control, and the ability to carve corners with knife-like precision.
Braking power on the DVX 400 is equally impressive, thanks to a large 6.9-in. front disc and single 8.6-in. rear disc. Single-piston, fl oating hydraulic calipers are activated by the separate hand (front brake) and foot (rear brake) controls, each providing excellent feel and sensitivity. Lightweight aluminum wheels (10 x 5.5 front/ 9 x 8 rear) and radial tires reduce unsprung weight and enhance the already lightning-quick acceleration.
With its unique plastic styling featuring removable fenders (for customization and racers who prefer to race without fenders), the Arctic Cat DVX improves upon a proven winner.
